Drug Syringes wash up on streets in Wetheriggs

From our Reporter, 25 July 2017

The weekend rains brought local flooding in the Wetheriggs area of Penrith.

Drains burst their seals, bringing both dirty water and numerous used syringes to the surface. Local residents reported the mess to United Utilities who are responsible for the drain so the mess could be cleared up.

Residents told Eden FM, that this is a regular occurrence and is worst in the winter rains and that despite numerous reports to Eden District Council, nothing has been done to improve the situation.

Residents are particularly concerned that uses syringes are ending up in the streets and verges where they and children live.
