The Eden FM Radio Experience

Private Tour and Radio Session

Some like cookery, some like sport, maybe gardening, or photography.

Do you like a type of music or do you have a moment in time when music was your first love?

How many people in their lifetime get to do something different like presenting a radio show to thousands of people locally, streamed across the UK and around the world?

Have you got a face for radio? Some like to listen to the radio or watch the news. Have you ever thought what a buzz it is to be presenting your own radio show for one hour?

You can book a ½ day studio and radio experiences with Eden FM

Work Experience

Long before Eden FM switched on, it was working with local schools and youth groups, along with various national and local societies, including organisations involved in work placements.

The most valuable asset at Eden FM is its volunteers. Work experience in most organisations is administered by paid employees of a team, unless of course it is a charity or not for profit organisation.

Voluntary members are the most valuable asset of the station, followed by the hours they put in, which are ‘priceless’.

As we are a voluntary organisation, much of the work experience programme requires one to one coaching, monitoring and evaluation. It’s not something we can do at the drop of a hat.

On completing the work experience application form, it can be emailed to or posted to the main studio address.

We can only process applications for eight months of the year from 1st February to 30th June, and from 1st September to 30th November. This is due to our community commitments at seasonal times and staffing availability.

On submitting your application, you will receive confirmation of receipt and you will then be contacted within 2 to 3 weeks.

From February 2021, we have sponsors for work experience students, so every successful candidate will have a nominated sponsor and receive a certificate of attendance.

Work experience can run from one week up to 6 months. During that time, you are treated as a member of the team. The station runs 24 hours a day and we have live shows from 7am through to 10pm most days including weekends.

All aspects of radio are covered, including its history, its purpose and how it links with other media methods.

Production, database work, programming, scheduling, presenting, outside broadcasting, how it all works, we cover it all and on completion we like to put that experience into print via the Eden Local Community magazine. You get to take a copy home of a recorded radio session produced by you and a diary of that experience.

(Subject to Lockdown Guidance, access is limited to the Eden FM Facilities, however you can submit your details and dates of availability to pre book.)
